The University of Leicester (UoL) is a UK University based in the Midlands. It has a good research and teaching profile including a large number of Distance Learning students. This project has been developed with the aid of the University of Leicester's Teaching Enhancement Forum. This Forum is a 'community of practice' exploring important teaching issues including citizenship.
  The African Virtual University (AVU) is based in Nairobi, Kenya but has 57 learning centres in 27 African countries. The AVU principally believe in the use of Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) to overcome some of the access problems to quality education which Africans experience. This is acheived by means of the Open Distance and eLearning (ODeL) initiative.
  The Higher Education Academy (HEA) rationale is "to help institutions, discipline groups and all staff to provide the best possible learning experience for their students". To this end it supports various initiatives and developments including through its Subject Centres. One such initiative which benefited this project was their Education for Sustainable Development Project.
  Wreake Valley Community College (WVCC) is a UK school based in Leicestershire.
  Forum for the Future is a UK Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) specialising in matters relating to Sustainable Development. To this end they work with businesses, the public sector and others.
