Tim was born in Stoke-on-Trent, UK in the late Sixties. He attended Alsager Comprehensive studying Maths, Physics and Computing post-16.
This and a burgeoning hobby led to gaining a BSc. Computer Science and MSc. Man-Computer Systems at De Montfort University in 1991.

Senior Technician in Sports Psychology at Manchester Metropolitan University in the Department of Exercise and Sport Science

Then Tim dived into the murky depths of a PhD at the University of Leeds, Computer Based Learning Unit (now sadly defunct), School of Education.
For this, Tim collaborated with Chapeltown and Harehills Assisted Learning Computer School, Notre Dame Sixth Form College, colleagues and their kids!
Whilst at Leeds Tim taught Postgrads and Undergrads on ICTs in Education and was a part-time Teaching Assistant in the School of Computing.
Tim then spent spent three years at Staffordshire University as a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Technology.
At SU Tim taught Artificial Intelligence, Human-Computer Interaction and Instructional Software Design. He also travelled to Shanghai as a Quality Monitor.
During this time he wrote-up his PhD thesis "Collaborative Learning With Affective Artificial Study Companions in a Virtual Learning Environment".
All of these experiences led to a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the United Nations University - Institute of Advanced Studies in Yokohama, Japan.
In Japan Tim was a member of the Education for Sustainable Development team and was a tutor/researcher in the Global Virtual University.
This Japanese work resulted in the UNU-IAS Working Paper entitled "Contextualisation of Virtual Learning in the Global Marketplace."

Tim was then an "Educational Researcher" (Research Associate) in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Leicester, UK.
Tim was recently on the UNESCO-IUCN 'Expert Team' for 'Indicators' for the UN Decade for Education for Sustainable Development in Asia-Pacific.
He is currently a 'Champion' for the UN Global Alliance for ICT and Development.
Tim has also accepted an invitation to become a member of the IUCN Commission on Education and Communication (CEC).
Currently Tim is an indepedent consultant.
Tim paints, writes short fiction, poetry and 'fact', makes music and software, loves to travel and takes photographs.
